Muti conducts Falstaff & Evanston celebrates Bach Week

This week, Riccardo Muti's cycle of concert performances of Verdi/Shakespeare operas at the CSO concludes with Falstaff.  Verdi. Muti. CSO. Do you need anymore convincing than that?  Italian baritone Ambrogio Maestri headlines the cast in one of his signature roles.

In Evanston, Bach Week Festival begins on Friday.  Richard Webster returns to the conduct the opening concert which features soloists David Govertson and mezzo-soprano Nina Heebink with one of Chicago's most refined chamber choirs Bella Voce in cantatas BWV66 and BWV 106. Bella Voce also offer their own concert on Sunday "Faire is the Heaven"  - a banquet of British choral masterpieces with guest organist Dr. Christine Kraemer.

Fans of more obscure early music can hear Minnesota's chic The Rose Ensemble at Rockerfeller Chapel in Hyde Park; and lovers of song can be treated to a FREE program with the theme of mythology and fairy tale in music presented by VOX3 Collective at the Skokie Public Library's Petty Auditorium.
