This weekend you have the opportunity to hear some very touching ensemble singing when La Caccina paired with bluegrass trio Glass Mountain present their program of Appalachian folksongs entitled Mountain Nights. A sneak peek video is circulating on Facebook; if you "like" their page it will be easy to find and the concert's appeal will become immediately apparent.
There will also be two concerts of African-American spirituals performed by an all-volunteer choir of some of Chicago's best singers, produced by conductor Benjamin Rivera to benefit the Chicago Children's Choir. Mr. Rivera assembled these programs in an effort to raise awareness of the need for racial understanding and reconciliation in the music community and its audiences.
An uplifting an inspiring pair of concerts to seek.
