George Frideric Handel was a master composer of both orchestral and choral music, penning some of the most influential vocal compositions of the Baroque era. Nicholas Kraemer, a leading specialist in Handel’s music, conducts an all-Handel program of works ranging from the stirring anthem Zadok the Priest to the jubilant Music for the Royal Fireworks.
Praised by Opera News for her “light and luster", “wonderful agility and silvery top notes,” soprano Amanda Forsythe is no stranger to the works of Handel. In Autumn 2015 her début solo recording of Handel arias with Apollo’s Fire, The Power of Love, was released on the Avie label to great acclaim. She looks forward to the holiday season each year, when she sings in at least one production of Messiah. Speaking of her experience with Handel’s catalogue, Forsythe notes, “there are certain Handel arias, where you pick up, and you sing through it once and you think, ‘Right, that sounds great.’ It fits really, really comfortably in the voice.”
