British countertenor Iestyn Davies, widely recognized as one of the world’s finest singers, joins the critically acclaimed Haymarket Opera Orchestra in a program of cantatas for solo alto by Johann Sebastian Bach.

Direct from the stage of the Metropolitan Opera where he debuted the role of Terry Rutland in Nico Muhly's opera Marnie. Davies also took New York audiences by storm with his recent portrayal of the Baroque era’s “rockstar” castrato Farinelli in Farinelli and the King on Broadway.

Bach’s cantatas for alto take us on a musical journey from fear and uncertainty to conviction in faith. Experience the genius of Bach as Iestyn Davies sings some of the master's most daring and inventive music.

Widerstehe doch der Sünde, BWV 54
Bekennen will ich seinen Namen, BWV 200
Vergnügte Ruh, beliebte Seelenlust, BWV 170
