Haymarket Opera Company presents Haydn's L'isola disabitata

Kimberly McCord who was a show-stopper as Juno in last spring's La Calisto, and Suzanne Lommler who chewed the scenery in the 2015 production of Amadigi di Gaula both return to Haymarket Opera Company in their season opener.  They are joined by Chicago Fringe Opera's Scott Brunscheen and certified Barihunk™ Jonathan Beyer.  Haymarket shows are costumed by the amazing Meriem Bahri, which is usually enough reason to attend.

Chicago Folks Operetta presents The Cousin from Nowhere

On the eve of her eighteenth birthday, Julia is eager to be free of her guardians, Josse and Wimpel, who have been living off of Julia’s inheritance. Josse plots to marry Julia off to his nephew, August. This would keep the money in the family and preserve Josse’s free meal ticket. But Julia’s heart belongs to her childhood sweetheart, Roderich, whom she has not seen in many years. When a handsome stranger appears, Julia is convinced that he must be the long-lost Roderich. But who is he really? DIRECTED BY ELIZABETH MARGOLIUS AND CONDUCTED BY ANTHONY BARRESE.
