Grant Park Music Festival and the Ryan Opera Center present Carlisle Floyd's Of Mice and Men (Act I) & Nico Muhly's Two Songs for Soprano and Orchestra

The Ryan Opera Center joins Grant Park Orchestra with guest conductor Edwin Outwater.  Tenor Jesse Donner leads the cast for the first act of Floyd's Of Mice and Men.  Annie Rosen is featured in orchestrated songs by Nico Muhly.

Opera on Tap presents Roman Fever

Opera On Tap will continue its Operatic Book Club series with a setting of Edith Wharton’s short story Roman Fever, by American composer Robert Ward. The story is set in a terrace restaurant overlooking the Roman Forum where two widows and their daughters have met by chance. As their daughters talk of falling in love, the full story of the widows’ meeting in the same place twenty years earlier is revealed.

Chicago Symphony Orchestra presents Falstaff

Riccardo Muti's cycle of Giuseppe Verdi's three Shakespeare operas culminates in performances of Falstaff. With his incomparable musicianship, command of style and unique understanding of Verdi's genius, Maestro Muti will make Falstaff both a memorable highlight of the season and a crowning achievement of his Verdi performances in Chicago. Singing the title role is Ambrogio Maestri, "the most sought after Falstaff singer of his time" (The New York Times).
