The Callipygian Players join Bella Voce for the 6th annual performance of Chicago's *only period-instrument, complete Messiah. Expect breezy tempos, rapid choral melismas, gestural phrasing from the orchestra and chorus, and charismatic leadership from concertmaster Martin Davids and conductor Andrew Lewis. Soloists step forward from the ranks of the premiere chamber choir and include:
Henriët Fourie Thompson
*DISCLAIMER: For a few seasons, Callipygian Players were the only band in town offering period instruments for Messiah. The now defunct Baroque Band threw their hat in the ring a few years ago and now many its members play in Haymarket Opera Company Orchestra which accompanies the performance at University of Chicago.
